Cheadle New Life Church is an Evangelical/Pentecostal church. For the purposes of data protection law, the trustees are the data controller for our church.

The information we collect.

 

We collect personal information when you become a member of our church and when you enter into our building. This information includes things such as:

 

* Contact details: Name, address, phone numbers, email addresses and any medical information we need to know about.

 

* Financial data: Gift aid, bank details and donation history.

 

* Life events: Information regarding things such as baptisms, weddings, funerals and dedications. 

 

* Safeguarding data: DBS checks and any other information required to run safe activities.

 

* Visual data: CCTV for crime prevention and safety.

 

How we use your data.

 

We use your data to manage our church operations, communicate correctly, provide safety and minister to the community. For example:

 

• To maintain our church membership details.

 

• To send out event details and/or church updates (with permission)

 

• To process financial donations and reclaim gift aid.

 

• To run community events. 

 

• To ensure the safety of children and vulnerable adults through safeguarding.

 

• To prevent crime and create safety.

 

Our legal basis for processing this information.

 

Under UK data protection law, we process your data using the following legal grounds:

 

• Legitimate interests: Day to day church administration and services and for spiritual care.

 

• Legal obligation: To comply with statutory requirements like safeguarding regulations.

 

• Consent: To communicate where you have specifically given consent for us to do so.

 

• Religious activities exemption: As a not-for-profit religious body, we process ‘special category’ data i.e. your beliefs, for internal purposes regarding regular members.

 

Sharing your data.

 

Your data is strictly confidential. We will never share or sell your data with third parties for marketing purposes. We only share your data for these reasons:

 

• When required by the law (Gift aid, safeguarding)

 

• With trusted service providers (Church database, website or email systems)

 

How long do we keep your data.

 

We only keep your data for as long as is necessary.

 

• Membership records: Are kept for the entire time you attend Cheadle New Life Church and are an active part of our church.

 

• Gift aid records: Are kept for 6 years after the end of the relevant tax year.

 

• CCTV footage: Is kept for 31 days, unless there is an incident whereby authorities need the footage to be stored for longer.

 

• Safeguarding records: Are kept long-term in line with national guidelines.

 

Your rights.

 

You have specific rights regarding your personal data. You can ask us to:

 

• Provide a copy of the personal data/information we hold about you.

 

• Correct any mistakes or change any out of date information.

 

• Delete your information from our systems (where legally permitted)

 

• Stop communicating with you regarding events, up coming details etc at anytime.
