Statement Of Faith

Cheadle New Life Church holds to the historic truths of Christianity.

1. We believe the Bible: that the Old and New Testaments are the verbally inspired Word of God, inerrant and infallible in the original manuscripts, and are the supreme and final authority in matters of faith and life, interpreted by the Holy Spirit to each individual believer. 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21; 1 Corinthians 2:13

2. We believe in one God: that He is eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit; that He is Almighty God with no equal; that He created everything out of nothing for His own pleasure and purpose. Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14

3. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ: is the eternal Son of God; begotten of the Father through the Holy Spirit and was not created; was born of the Virgin Mary; is fully man without ceasing to be fully God (John 1:1-2, 14; Luke 1:35; Isaiah 9:6; 7:14; Philippians 2:5-8; Galatians 4:4-5); lived a perfect and sinless life fully pleasing His Father Luke 3:22; died for our sins on the cross, bearing the judgment demanded by God's Holy Justice against sin, thus making it possible for God to remain Just and at the same time to justify those who trust in Christ Romans 3:26. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead, never to die again, and is ascended to the right hand of the Father, where He intercedes as High Priest and Advocate on behalf of all who believe in Him Hebrews 9:24. We believe: that Jesus is glorified at God’s right hand; that He will Rapture the church, his bride, before the Great Tribulation; that He will return physically to the earth in great glory and power accompanied by the Saints, being seen by all and then to judge all the world; that He will reign as sovereign on the earth for a thousand years.

4. We believe in the Resurrection of The Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus was rejected, betrayed and was put to death, crucified dead and buried; on the third day He rose again from among the dead bodily and physically; appeared to his disciples and to more than 500 witnesses; He ascended into heaven; is seated at the right hand of the Father; is our High Priest and intercessor. 1 Corinthians 15:3-6

5. We believe that man was created in the image of God having a freedom of will with the ability to choose; he was created innocent and when he sinned the human race incurred both physical and spiritual death; thus man became alienated from God and incapable of remedying his sinful condition by his own means. Genesis 2:7; Genesis 3

6. We believe that those who by faith alone and through no merit of their own, receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour are miraculously born again of the Holy Spirit and become the adopted children of God; partakers of His divine nature; and partakers of eternal life: the fruit of faith being good works and a changed life. Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 John 1:12; 1 Peter 1: 18-19

7. We believe The Holy Spirit to be the third person of the Trinity proceeding from the Father and the Son, bringing Glory to the Son John 15:26; indwelling all true believers John 14:16-17; baptising them into the church, His body; sanctifying them, teaching them and empowering them and bestowing supernatural spiritual gifts upon them for service. We believe that the Holy Spirit baptises the believer, clothing them with power for service, bestowing all the nine gifts of the Spirit that He distributes, as He wills 1 Corinthians 12:11. Speaking in tongues are the initial evidence of the Spirit’s baptising the believer and usually occur after the laying on of hands Acts 19:6-9. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is not the Regeneration done by the Holy Spirit at conversion, but a separate experience done by the same Holy Spirit. There are many fillings but only one baptism in the Holy Spirit Acts 4:31.

8. We believe in Spiritual gifts following the baptism in the Holy Spirit, which are given severally to each believer as the Holy Spirit determines for the edification of the church, and the encouragement of the believer. 1 Corinthians 12

9. We believe in The Lord’s Supper  - an ordinance that is not essential to salvation, but is to be observed in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ by all believers until His return. We hold: that the one partaking examines their own heart thus having a right attitude toward its sanctity; that its emblems are only symbolic and have no miraculous powers of change; that Christ is present in Spirit to bless. 1 Corinthians 11:23-28

10. We believe in Water baptism. We hold that it is an ordinance which is not essential to salvation, but is to be observed in obedience to our Lord by all believers until Christ's return: being fully submerged under water and raised out as symbolic of dying to sin and rising to a new life in Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 6:4

11. We believe that the local church has the absolute right of self-government free from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organisations; that Leadership is composed of bishops (elders, overseers, shepherds), deacons, and the saints (Philippians 1:1), who operate through democratic processes under the Lordship of Jesus Christ; that each member of the congregation is equally responsible for its ongoing work, although there are those who are called by Jesus Christ to special gifting’s with responsibilities (Ephesians 4:11-12) ; that Christ is present by His Spirit in the midst as believers gather in His name, whether there are two or more. That its mission and mandate is to preach the gospel at home and abroad; discipling believers in the truth and through accountability Acts 2:42

12. We believe In Holiness of life. Every believer has been made holy through living faith in Jesus Christ and so is positionally sanctified Ephesians 1:4; Philippians 1:2, but has the responsibility for practical holiness in living out and conducting themselves according to their spiritual position. Every believer should endeavour to keep from swearing, from sexual perversion, adultery, homosexual relations, fornication, drunkenness, violence, gambling, lying, and theft, obeying the laws of the land providing they do not conflict with scripture. Ephesians 4:20-24; 1 Peter 2:1-3

13. We believe in the Second coming of Christ that it will be in two phases, firstly to Rapture the church 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, His bride, prior to the Great Tribulation and being immanent; then secondly, and after the Rapture, His physical public appearing in great power and glory to save His people Israel at Armageddon, putting down all His enemies and judging the Nations then to reign over the earth for a thousand years on David’s throne with all the redeemed. 2 Thessalonians 2:8; Revelation 19:11-21

14. We believe that at death the souls of the true believers will pass immediately into Christ's presence (2 Corinthians 5:1,2,8) to remain there until the resurrection of the body (re uniting of soul and body) at Christ's return for the Church at the Rapture, where the believer will be brought before the Beamer Seat of Christ, not in condemnation, but for reward for the believer’s faithfulness. We also believe that at death the souls of the lost go to an abode of (fully consciences) waiting, where they remain until they are brought before God the Father and Christ at the Great White Throne at the final judgment. These will then be judged according to their works, and cast into the Lake of Fire to remain there (fully consciences) for all eternity Revelation 20:10-15.

15. We believe in the bodily resurrection of those who have trusted Christ for salvation at Rapture- the premillennial return of Christ for His Church, when the souls and spirits of those who have died will be reunited with their bodies.  The bodies of those believers who are alive at that time, will likewise be transformed into immortality, and will be caught up together with them to meet Christ in the air, and to be ever with Him. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:35-58

16. We believe that Satan was created as an angelic being. Who, when sin was found in him, was thrust out of heaven; who came in the guise of a serpent tempting Adam and Eve into rebellion against the creator; who is active in the world today and rules over the hearts of all who are not saved through faith in Christ; who will be bound for a thousand years at Jesus Christ’s physical return; whose final defeat will see him cast into the lake of fire for all eternity. Thus Jesus Christ, the Last Adam, will defeat him Revelation 20:1.

17. We believe in an eternal state of bliss where after the final judgment and eternal damnation of Satan and the wicked dead (Revelation 20:10-15), there will be future new heavens and a new earth, an eternal state where God will be near.  All suffering will be eliminated and righteousness will dwell.  God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Then He who sat on the throne said, behold, I make all things new Revelation 21:1-5
